Abu Dhabi is set to host a major music festival on Saturday, March 11, to be headlined by artists including Travis Scott and Lil Uzi Vert, among other popular singers and rappers. However, just one day prior to the concert, a major headliner – Lil Uzi Vert, has cancelled.

The reasons for the abrupt cancellation are unknown. 24-year-old rappers, Roddy Ricch and Central Cee, have been announced as replacement acts.

The concert since its announcement has made headlines and tickets saw steep sales.

This will be the first time that international artist, Travis Scott, will headline in the region. The rapper behind hits including ‘Goosebumps’, ‘Sicko Mode’ and ‘Butterfly Effect’ was scheduled to perform in the region for the F1 after-race concert in 2020. However, pulled out of the concert just three days prior to his scheduled performance, due to “unforeseen circumstances”.

Wireless Festival, a London-born festival, emerged in 2005 and has become one of the most popular urban music festivals around the world. The festival has seen performances from the likes of artists, including Bruno Mars, Rihanna, Justin Timberlake, Kanye West and Jay-Z.

The Abu Dhabi version of the festival will take place on Yas Island, tickets range from AED295 to AED795.
