Abu Dhabi’s Crown Prince has allocated two aircraft to bring fans to Saudi Arabia for the UAE’s crucial Arabian Gulf Cup match against Iraq this evening.
The UAE, who are defending champions, have drawn their opening games against Oman 0-0 and Kuwait 2-2. They currently lie joint second in the group with Oman, two points behind group leaders Kuwait. While the UAE could progress to the semi-finals with draw against Iraq, if Oman lose to Kuwait, a win will guarantee their place in the last four and avoid hosts Saudi Arabia.
Boosting the country’s support in Riyadh’s King Fahd International Stadium, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, has ordered the allocation of two planes to bring Emirati football fans to the match.
Registration of fans started this morning at the headquarters of the United Arab Emirates Football Association in Abu Dhabi and Dubai. The two planes will take off at 2pm from Abu Dhabi and Dubai.
The UAE Football Association will provide transport for fans in Riyadh, allocating buses to take them from the airport to the stadium.
