The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation has reminded private sector companies with 50 or more employees to achieve their first-half Emiratisation targets for 2024.

The targets call for a 1 percent increase in Emiratis employed in skilled jobs at these companies by June 30.

This deadline is in line with a Cabinet resolution on Emiratisation rates. Going forward, the ministry will monitor compliance starting July 1.

UAE companies urged to meet Emiratisation targets for 2024

“We urge companies to adhere to Emiratisation targets, which are a top priority for the UAE Government, given the role they play in achieving economic growth objectives and the nation’s ambitions for the upcoming period, where the primary focus will be on empowering national human capital,” MoHRE said in a statement on Tuesday.

It commended firms that have already met the required targets, stressing the importance of registering UAE citizens in approved pension funds and the Wage Protection System.

The ministry also urged companies behind on targets to use the Nafis platform to find qualified Emirati job seekers.

The ministry’s digital supervision system identified 1,379 companies attempting to bypass targets by unlawfully hiring 2,170 Emiratis between mid-2022 and May 16, 2024.

Violating firms faced fines, rating downgrades and some files were referred to the Public Prosecution. Financial penalties applied from the date of each breach and remedial actions were required.

The ministry called on the public to report any violations via its call centre or smart application, adding that Emiratisation targets were set to enhance Emirati citizens’ participation in the job market and their contribution to the country’s economic development.
