External vendors and contractors working for cleaning and maintenance companies will be charged a “work permit fee” to be allowed to operate in Damac Properties buildings, the company has announced.
Owners and residents of properties managed by Damac or Loams – the Luxury Owner Association Management Services – properties were informed of the change in policy on Thursday, July 25.
“On payment of the fees, external service providers will be issued a work permit that allows them to access the entire property,” Niall McLoughlin, Damac’s senior vice president of marketing and corporate communications, told Arabian Business.
McLoughlin added, however, that owners and residents do not have to pay any fee to avail of cleaning and maintenance services from external vendors.
“The fee collected will be accounted for as income of the owners’ association of the property, in a bid to reduce service charges,” he said.
Licensed, registered cleaners
According to Damac, the work permit has been implemented to ensure that only service providers who are licensed and registered with local authorities are allowed to enter its managed properties.
“It is to restrict any rogue service providers, without license and registration, from entering and operating within a Damac property and will ensure the quality of services rendered are in-line with government regulations and standards,” McLoughlin added. “It will also ensure that the safety of residents and owners are upheld while undertaking cleaning and maintenance services.”
The fee, however, does not apply to other service providers including couriers, food delivery staff, tutors, physical trainers and other non-maintenance service providers.
The Damac statement did not reveal how much the fee amounts to.
In an e-mail sent to residents, residents of Damac properties were told that the fee is chargeable for either daily or annual access passes for the service provider and can be paid through the building’s management office or on HelloDamac.com.
