The UK visa fees are likely to go up further in view of the country’s move to increase its immigration health surcharge in January next year.
The increase on immigration health surcharge is expected to come in force on January 16, 2024, or 21 days after relevant legislation passes, whichever is later, media reports said.
The surcharge will increase from £624 to £1,035 (about $1,253) per person per year.
The rate for children and students will increase from £470 to £776 a year.
The date for implementation of the surcharge increase is indicated in the Immigration (Health Charge) (Amendment) Order 2023.
The surcharge was first introduced in April 2015 and applies to most visa applicants who are applying to remain in the United Kingdom.
Some media reports, however, said the impending immigration health surcharge will not apply to visitors or those applying to remain in the United Kingdom permanently.
The UK recently increased work and visit visa fees by 15 percent, family, settlement and citizenship visas by 20 percent and student visas by 35 percent.
