UAE travellers are looking to take a foreign holiday during the upcoming Eid holidays despite a hike in air fares.

Air fares are expected to increase by 10 to 15% over Eid, but nearly 65% of people are looking to travel internationally says online travel agency Musafir.com.

Queries for travel bookings and packages have surged considerably by 30% said the travel agents in a report.

It added that UAE travellers are seeking to travel internationally at significantly higher levels than they did last year.

Nearly 65% are choosing leisure travel and 35% opting to celebrate with family either in their home countries or locally.

Booking holidays strategically over public holidays can maximise days off without using up excess annual leave allowance from an employer. By booking holidays for a certain date it could be possible to take a nine-day vacation from the UAE, by using just three days of annual leave.

Amongst UAE residents planning to celebrate in the country, a great majority are planning for staycations in Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah, Umm Al Quiwan and Abu Dhabi.

Budget and visa-friendly destinations are in demand as people plan for the holidays that’s why CIS countries such as Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Armenia, are quite popular while Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan are gaining momentum alongside Singapore, Kenya, Thailand and Malaysia.

Since receiving visas to the Schengen countries, the UK, USA and Canada is still challenging, people are more skewed towards countries where obtaining visas is hassle-free.

Holiday packages within the range of AED 3,000-4,000 are fancied and are in great demand.

Business Travel on the other hand will witness a drop of 10-15% during the first 15 days of Ramadan and will pick up again in the second half.
