Dubai’s Burj Al Arab holds global recognition for being the only seven-star hotel in the world, this title comes with the offering of several over-the-top features including 24-karat gold interiors and Swarovski crystal ceilings but it doesn’t end there – the hotel offers the luxury of ‘quality sleep’ to guests with an extensive pillow menu and rare eiderdown duvets with quills harvested from eider duck nests in Iceland.

The pillow menu offers an array of options to suit different preferences and sleeping styles. Whether guests prefer a soft down pillow, a memory foam pillow, or a therapeutic orthopedic pillow, the luxury hotel offers an extensive list.

Accompanying the pillows are the eiderdown duvets, adding another layer of luxury to the already opulent Burj Al Arab‘s guest suites. Eiderdown, famously known as the world’s finest and rarest down, is sourced from the nests of eider ducks in Iceland. The eiderduck down is considered so rare that there is a harvest limit imposed of up to 2,000kg per year.

“With each nest yielding a mere 15-20g of down and an annual harvest limit of 2,000kg, these duvets embody exclusivity and refinement, embodying a luxury beyond compare,” the website said.

“A fully customisable bed menu, including nine types of pillows, eiderdown duvets and Egyptian cotton linen means you can design your ideal night’s sleep, and know that everything will be perfect when you fall into bed at the end of the day,” Burj Al Arab boasts in a social media post.

There’s the Anti-Ageing Premium Down, which contains ‘traces of vitamins’. If you suffer from night sweats, you’ll want to opt for the Horsehair Pillow, also described as ‘delightfully absorbent’.”

In addition to opulent sleep offerings, Burj Al Arab holds the title for several of the world’s ‘firsts’. The hotel claimed the Guinness World Record for the most expensive cocktail that costs AED27,321, it also gained accolades for the world’s largest tin of caviar, the largest crystal ceiling in the world worth AED1.3m and a helipad that was temporarily converted into a makeshift tennis court.

Earlier this year, Arabian Business reported that Burj Al Arab was the most recommended property in the UAE, followed by Emirates Palace and Atlantis The Palm. The seven-star hotel gained a score of 76.5 in the YouGov Hotel Advocacy Ranking 2024.
