The Royal Oman Police announced Thursday that it would open the application submission process for visa to World Cup fans to enter Oman. The visa is only applicable to those holding a Hayya Card, which World Cup ticket holders will receive.

Oman is offering a free multiple-entry visa to World Cup fans. The visa will be valid for 60 days and can further be extended twice through the e-visa website.

The move comes ahead of the FIFA World Cup 2022 Qatar, which is scheduled for kick-off on November 20.

The Hayya Card is a personalised document and is mandatory for everyone attending any of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 matches.

On Wednesday, Qatari authorities announced that a PCR test will also no longer be required to enter the country, as it prepares for a huge influx of visitors for the mega football event.

Earlier this year, airlines across the region announced a new shuttle flight programme. As such, many fans are now planning on staying outside of Qatar and commuting to view matches. On Wednesday, Dubai was unveiled as the top city destination for travel to Qatar during the global event, the city being a popular hub en route for the major football event.

Global bookings to the UAE have increased significantly since the beginning of the year which bookings increasing by 114 percent in September as compared to the previous month, according to Skyscanner.

For GCC residents, Oman also announced on Thursday that it would now offer visa-free entry, although Oman Airports confirmed to Arabian Business that travellers would still need to purchase a visa on arrival.
