UAE travellers going to India have been given new guidelines as Covid-19 measures are being tightened once again.
Budget airline Air India Express has issued new guidelines governing passengers on flights from the UAE into India.
The Air India Express guidelines cover issues such as vaccinations and mask-wearing for travellers coming from the UAE.

According to a social media post by Air India Express:
- All guests should preferably be fully vaccinated as per the approved primary schedule of vaccination against Covid-19 in their country.
- All guests should preferably use masks and follow physical distancing on flights/ travel and at all points of entry.
- All guests should self-monitor their health post-arrival and shall report to their nearest health facility or call the national helpline number (1075)/ State Helpline Number in case they have any symptoms.
India’s Union Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) has introduced a ruling stating that two per cent of incoming international passengers will undergo random Covid testing.
The random testing will be on passengers identified by airlines and should be from different countries, the Government body said. Only after submitting samples will passengers be allowed to leave the airport.
According to Air India Express: “Children under 12 years of age are exempted from post-arrival random testing. However, if found symptomatic for Covid-19 on arrival or during the period of self-monitoring, they shall undergo testing and be treated as per the protocol”.
The move followed Prime Minister Narendra Modi chairing a high-level meeting on Friday to assess the Covid-19 situation in the country.
Modi reiterated that the pandemic is not over yet and directed officials to strengthen the ongoing surveillance measures, especially at international airports.
“The Prime Minister cautioned against complacency and advised strict vigil,” the readout added.
