Muscat International Airport saw over 1mn passengers in January

Muscat International Airport welcomed over 1 million visitors in January following a surge in travel rates across both international and domestic sectors.

The Oman National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI) revealed that flights, both international and domestic as well as outbound and inbound climbed 143 percent. In Januaru 2023, 1,051,930 passengers travelled through the Muscat International Airport.

Indians fly most out of Muscat International Airport

A similar number of passengers was recorded pre-pandemic in January 2020 at 1.43 million.

Indians topped the list of the most travelled nationality through the Muscat International Airport, followed by Banglaeshis and Pakistanis.

Earlier today, Oman announced predictions for Eid holidays this month. A nine-day holiday can be expected by Omani residents as per astronomical calculations.

Eid Al-Fitr is most likely to fall on Saturday, April 22, in Oman according to a report. This means that if Eid Al-Fitr falls on April 22, residents can expect a nine-day break.

Travel rates are likely to surge during the Eid break across all GCC countries.
