Ras Al Khaimah’s Wynn Al Marjan will launch gaming experiences for visitors once open, Wynn Resorts’ Chief Communications Officer Michael Weaver told Arabian Business in an exclusive interview.
“The gaming experiences will open when the resort opens,” Weaver said.
Weaver’s comments came following Wynn’s reveal of the upcoming resort at the Arabian Travel Market, which is currently taking place at Dubai World Trade Centre.
Valued at a whopping $3.9 billion, Wynn Al Marjan is set to be Wynn Resorts’ first beachfront property, located on a 62-hectare island in the emirate.
Ras Al Khaimah ‘appealing’ for gaming resort
The development is a collaboration between Wynn Resorts, Marjan, and RAK Hospitality Holding, and is expected to become the Middle East North Africa (MENA) region’s first integrated gaming resort.
“What makes it [Ras Al Khaimah] such an appealing destination is their focus on tourism overall. However, when people come to a gaming resort, they don’t want to spend all of their time in the resort – they would want to get out and they want to see other things. So, the appealing thing about RAK is that they have and are in the process of developing such a wide variety of attractions – a genuinely beautiful beach experience, which is really unlike the other beach experiences that exists in the UAE, the wildlife experience, the mountains, and so on – you really can’t find the diversity of experiences as a tourist, really anywhere else in the UAE,” Weaver said.
But, what makes Wynn Al Majan different from Las Vegas, Macau, Boston Wynn resorts?
“We have incorporated the primordial elements of life – light, plants, air,” Weaver said. “When one thinks of a resort, its often-enclosed spaces, however we do the complete opposite of that – we incorporate lots of natural light into our resorts with lots of plants inside and outside. In our other resorts, we often had to create this but in Ras Al Khaimah, all of these elements naturally exist,” he added.
Additionally, Wynn Resorts will have its own in-house full-service design and architectural team, which has been responsible for crafting all of Wynn’s distinctive gaming resorts.
With iconic resorts spanning two continents and now adding Ras Al Khaimah to its portfolio, Wynn Design and Development has had a significant influence on the global gaming resort landscape.
The 300-metre-tall resort tower will also offer guests a complete range of luxury amenities and experiences, including 1,542 rooms and elegant suites.
Moreover, there will be 22 exclusive Villa Estates located on the newly designed marina adjacent to the resort. The resort’s poolscape will span a vast area, featuring multiple swimming and wading pools, water features, private cabanas, and tropical landscapes spread over 3.6 hectares.
Apart from this, the resort will be home to 22 dining, lounge, theatre, and bar venues – all of which will each have their own unique design. Guests will be able to explore the resort’s 15,000-square-metre shopping esplanade, housing the world’s most luxurious boutiques.
A five-star spa and salon will also be available, along with a spacious 7,500-square-metre meetings and events centre for conferences, conventions, and special celebrations such as weddings. The resort will also feature outdoor event terraces and lawns.
When asked if Wynn Resorts would be opening a gaming resort in Dubai, Weaver said there are currently no plans to open the same.
Construction on Wynn Al Marjan Island began early 2023 under the guidance of UAE-based main contractor ALEC Engineering and Contracting.
The resort currently stands at approximately 40 metres in height, with the full tower expected to reach over 300 metres by the fourth quarter of 2025.
The resort is scheduled to open to the public in early 2027.
