Emirates has announced that it will re-introduce pre-pandemic flight frequencies to its destinations in India from Friday.
The airline said it will be operating 170 weekly flights to nine cities in the country.
The move comes on the back of the decision by the Indian government to restore international flights to and from the country in line with established bilateral agreements from the end of March.
Emirates said it will be operating the following flights:
- Mumbai – 35 weekly flights
- New Delhi – 28 weekly flights
- Bengaluru – 24 weekly flights
- Chennai – 21 weekly flights
- Hyderabad – 21 weekly flights
- Kochi- 14 weekly flights
- Kolkata – 11 weekly flights
- Ahmedabad – 9 weekly flights
- Thiruvananthapuram – 7 weekly flights
Emirates has also brought back its Airbus A380 on a daily basis between Dubai and Mumbai.
The India announcement is the latest from the Dubai airline suggesting operations are slowly returning to normal following the impact of the global coronavirus pandemic.
Last week, Emirates SkyCargo, the carrier’s freight unit, reactivated its cargo hub in Dubai South for dedicated freighter aircraft operations.
The Emirates SkyCentral DWC move marked a return to dual hub cargo operations in Dubai for the air cargo carrier after a period of nearly two years.
In April 2020, Emirates SkyCargo consolidated its freighter and passenger cargo operations at Dubai International Airport (DXB) in light of the suspension of passenger flights during the early stages of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The consolidation was aimed at streamlining and expediting the transport of essential supplies and medical items across the world.
