Dubai has been named the world’s most popular tourist destination in the world in the Tripadvisor Travellers’ Choice Awards.
It is the third year in a row the emirate has topped the destination rankings and testament to the city’s established reputation as a global tourism hotspot.
The awards are voted for by members of the public and are determined based on the quality and quantity of traveller reviews and ratings posted on Tripadvisor over a 12-month period.
Dubai tops Tripadvisor ranking
Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of The Executive Council announced the achievement on social media, saying the win was a testament to the city’s ambition and leadership.
Sheikh Hamdan said: “Dubai has once again secured the top spot as the No.1 global destination in the 2024 Tripadvisor Travellers’ Choice Awards, making it the first city to achieve this recognition for three consecutive years in a row.
“Dubai’s accomplishments in the tourism sector, once thought to be an unattainable dream, is now a tangible reality thanks to the visionary leadership of @HHShkMohd.
“It was only last year that @HHShkMohd outlined ambitious goals for Dubai’s tourism sector within the Dubai Economic Agenda, D33, setting sights on positioning Dubai among the top 3 global economic cities and tourist destinations.”
The city was followed by Bali and London in the rankings, with Europe and Asia dominating the majority of the top 10.

Tripadvisor said: “Everything feels extra spectacular — from the ultra-modern Burj Khalifa to the souks and malls filled with gold and jewellery vendors.
“It’s a place where if you can dream it, you can do it: Whether that means skiing indoors, dune-surfing in the desert, or zip-lining above the city”.
Tripadvisor also identified the best trending destinations, with Asian capitals of Tokyo and Seoul in first and second place as they become increasingly popular with tourists.
