Dubai announces more flight operations during Eid Al Fitr

Eid Al Fitr in Dubai and across the other six emirates of the UAE saw a massive surge in travel as residents experienced a four-day weekend.

Dubai’s Emirates, in particular, had announced more flights across Middle East during the long weekend, with the carrier offering 38 additional flights across six GCC cities to meet rising demand.

The airline said that over 110,000 passengers are expected to travel with Emirates during the holiday season, in a statement, adding that the airline planned additional flights for Riyadh, Dammam, Jeddah, Medina, Kuwait and Beirut.

In addition, the Dubai International Airport (DXB) also topped the rankings as the busiest airport in the world among all GCC countries.

On a global scale, Dubai International Airport (DXB) ranked fifth, as per the Airports Council International. The rankings accounted for total passengers including those enplaned, deplaned and in transit.

On the international passengers chart, Dubai took the lead at the top spot for the ninth consecutive year as well.

Passenger traffic at the airport crossed over 66 million in 2022, doubling numbers from the previous year, due to the resumption of international travel, post-pandemic. DXB has also raised its passenger forecast for 2023 to 78 million

“The increase in demand for air travel was universal in 2022, but what set DXB apart was the dedication of our people and the meticulous planning and preparation by each and every service partner that makes up Dubai’s amazing airport community,” Griffiths said in a statement.
