The UAE’s consulate in the Pakistani city of Karachi will open a visa centre at the beginning of September, according to UAE ambassador Hamad Obaid Alzaabi.
According to a report in Pakistan’s Tribune newspaper, a second visa centre will also open in Islamabad in the first week of October.
“Everything will be here including medical insurance, check-ups, contracts et cetera to facilitate visa issuance from the visa centre in Karachi, which will be the biggest visa centre of Asia,” he said.
Alzaabi added that while UAE-Pakistan relations remain strong, there remains room for improvement.
“[The] governments of the UAE and Pakistan are working very hard to narrow the gap, find opportunities and tap the potential for trade and investment,” he said.
“We are trying to find new areas of cooperation where we can work together and are examining the challenges so that these could be addressed by the UAE authorities,” Alzaabi added.
