Indian budget carrier SpiceJet said on Wednesday it will operate 148 special flights for the Hajj, the annual Islamic pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia.
“SpiceJet is all set to carry close to 11,000 Hajj pilgrims from Srinagar, Jammu & Kashmir, to Madinah and Jeddah and back on special flights for the great religious gathering in Makkah this year,” the airline said in a statement.
“We offer our best wishes to all the pilgrims as they embark on this once in a lifetime journey and we will make every effort to provide a hassle-free and delightful travel experience for all our pilgrim passengers.” said Ajay Singh, chairman and managing director of SpiceJet.
The airline will deploy its Boeing 737-800 aircraft to ferry pilgrims, with the flights operated between July 4-29.
The return journey for the Hajj pilgrims is scheduled from August 16 to September 11.
SpiceJet, the first Indian budget carrier to commence operations to Saudi Arabia, has recently launched new direct flights to Jeddah and Riyadh from multiple locations in India.
