Sean Connolly is set to depart Dubai Opera’s first and only restaurant.
The famed chef is set to exit the venture ‘Sean Connolly at Dubai Opera’ on January 15 this year, according to Esquire Middle East.
“It’s with great sadness that I leave my baby behind, but I do intend to keep coming back to Dubai,” he told the publication.
The restaurant, opened in July 2017, is a contemporary, informal brasserie stretched across 12,000 square foot on top of the iconic building in Downtown Dubai.
The venue, which was Connolly’s first in the Middle East, comprises a main restaurant, private dining room, chef’s table, bar and outdoor rooftop terrace that overlooks views of the Burj Khalifa.
British-born Connolly, who built a name for himself in New Zealand and Australia, has five other restaurants in Auckland (2), Adelaide, Sydney and Byron Bay.
Emaar, owner of Dubai Opera, has been contacted for comment.
