Emirates has announced that it will introduce two additional flights to its Toronto service from August 18.
Both flights will be operated by the iconic Emirates A380 with private suites in First Class, lie flat seats in Business Class and spacious seats in Economy Class, the airline said in a statement.
The announcement follows talks between the UAE’s General Civil Aviation Authority and the Canadian Transport Minister that culminated in an agreement to increase air traffic rights between the two countries.
Emirates celebrated 10 years of operations in Canada last October, demonstrating the airline’s ongoing commitment to the market.
The A380 service, which was launched to Toronto in 2009, increased passenger capacity by 40 percent and passenger occupancy on the route has been consistently full, averaging 90 percent with demand outstripping supply.
Emirates said the additional frequency will fulfil the strong demand on the route and add 65 percent capacity to the market.The move comes after the decision in June that allos UAE nationals to no longer need a visa to travel to Canada for short stays. Reciprocally, Canadian nationals can receive a 30-day visa on arrival when visiting the UAE.
Since the inaugural flight in October 2007, Emirates has carried over 1.4 million passengers through its Toronto – Dubai route.
Emirates currently has 104 A380s in service and 58 pending delivery, more than any airline globally.
