Three-time world flowriding champion Clayton Barker and the UAE National Flowriding team will be giving lessons at Laguna Waterpark on Dubai’s latest beachfront attraction, La Mer, the facility has announced.

Barker last won the World Flowboarding championships with the UAE national team at Abu Dhabi’s Yas Waterworld in 2014.

Now watersports manager at Laguna Waterpark, he will be on hand to teach enthusiasts how to flowride, including during classes of up to 20 participants each.

“Laguna Waterpark is the place to learn the tricks on the highest capacity surfing machine in the region and I’m thrilled to be able to share my knowledge and passion with the surf enthusiasts of Dubai,” said Barker.

“This is the next generation competition wave of the future and I’m sure there will be some new talent emerging from the 180 Flow Club in no time.”

Flowiding is classified as an extreme sport and involves riding on artificial ‘sheet’ waves in a controlled facility.

Laguna Waterpark has a range of attractions dedicated to the sport including stand up surf lessions as well as the WaveOz 180, one of only three of its kind in the world that can generate waves in variations of up to 180 degrees.
