Sharjah invests extra $27m in amusement, water park

New attractions to be launched in 2018 while capacity is raised to 17,000 people per day

Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq) has unveiled new AED100 million ($27.2 million) attractions in the second phase of Al Montazah Amusement and Water Park.

Shurooq announced that as well as adding new amenities, the capacity of the destination has been increased to accommodate 7,000 guests at the water park and 10,000 visitors at the amusement park.

Ahmed Obaid Al Qaseer, COO of Shurooq, said: “We will reopen Al Montazah in a brand new attire featuring attractions that will take visitor experiences to a whole new level.”

Shurooq said that the water park at Al Montazah will reopen in February and the amusement park in the second quarter of 2018.

One of the new attractions – Pearls Kingdom – is inspired by the myth of ‘Princess Pearls’ who builds a kingdom through her knowledge of the precious sea stones. The aquatic park features 35 attractions, a wave pool which accommodates more than 200 visitors and a slide tower.

Island of Legends is a new amusement park which is inspired by a story based on a time travel journey through nine countries.

A total of 26 attractions have been added to the park, with the rides made in Europe and North America by the world’s most eminent attractions manufacturers.

The new attractions alsoo include a train that has two coaches carrying 40 guests, taking them on a journey that crosses all nine countries of the Island of Legends.

Al Montazah will also host two major events a year.
