Jumeirah Group will expand into three new countries next year, with the opening of five new properties in 2018.
The previously announced projects, including its debut Jumeirah Royal Saray in Bahrain, will all open ahead of the company’s 21st birthday in late 2018, the company announced today.
Other new markets for the luxury hotel brand include Oman, where it will open Jumeirah Muscat Bay, and Indonesia, where it will open Jumeirah Bali.
The Dubai-owned company will also open Jumeirah Nanjing in China and Jumeirah Sa’adiyat Island, Abu Dhabi. All hotels will be operated by Jumeirah under management contracts.
Also re-opening in 2018 will be Jumeriah Beach Hotel, which will close in May to allow for four months of refurbishment works to be completed.
The expansion plans follow a strong performance in 2017, with an overall 5 percent increase in the number of room nights and 6 percent increase in room revenues.
The hotel group also maintained stable year on year occupancy matching the same period in 2016.
“Our strong performance in 2017 is evidence of our robust and forward-looking business strategy and we are confident of continuing the success story in new markets in 2018,” said Linda Lewis, vice president global sales MEASA & ASPAC for Jumeirah Group.
