Yango launches new in-app Dubai public transport feature

Yango rolls out public transport service in Dubai

Yango Group has launched a new public transport service feature in its app.

The tech company’s new app feature integrates comprehensive public transit information with its existing ride-hailing, car rental, and delivery services.

The new feature provides route information, schedules, and estimated travel times for buses, metro, and other transport options. Users can now plan their entire journey within a single platform, receiving clear guidance on transfers, specific exit directors for metro stations, walking distances, and the number of stops for buses or trains.

This launch comes at a crucial time, as Dubai sees a surge in public transport ridership. During the recent Eid Al Adha holiday, passenger numbers increased from 6.4 million in 2023 to 6.7 million in 2024, indicating a growing preference for public transportation among residents and tourists.

“Public transportation in Dubai has seen remarkable development over the years, providing efficient and reliable travel options for residents,” said Islam Abdul Karim, General Manager of Yango GCC.

“Our goal with this new public transport service is to create a seamless transportation experience for users, integrating all necessary travel information into one easy-to-use platform. This initiative underscores our commitment to innovation and our dedication to redefining urban mobility in Dubai.”

Yango backs UAE’s green transport vision

The initiative aligns with the UAE’s green mobility goals, aiming to reduce energy consumption in the transport sector by 40 percent and increase the share of electric vehicles to 50 percent of total vehicles on UAE roads by 2050. Yango’s partner fleet already comprises 15 percent electric vehicles, contributing to these sustainability targets.

Yango plans to expand this service to Abu Dhabi in the future, further enhancing the region’s public transport network. The new feature is now available on the Yango app, which can be downloaded for free from Google Play or the App Store.
