Budget carrier Wizz Air Abu Dhabi is launching flights to Maldives starting at AED319 ($87) – as it further expands its coverage on the back of recovering air travel.
The Abu Dhabi airline will offer flights four times a week to Male, the main international airport in Maldives, it said in a statement.
It is also opening daily flights to Kuwait, which is the airline’s fifth destination in the Gulf, with ticket prices starting at AED99.
“We are excited to announce two new Wizz Air Abu Dhabi routes, which reaffirm our commitment to supporting the UAE’s travel and tourism industry by connecting its capital with many popular holiday destinations regionally and globally,” Owain Jones, the carrier’s development officer, said.
It comes as the airline expects to receive their fifth Airbus plane in October, allowing it to expand its capacity and connectivity – all on the back of tourism’s continuous recovery post-pandemic.
Once the order arrives, Wizz Air Abu Dhabi’s fleet will be composed of five new Airbus A321neo aircrafts, in addition to their other 145 Airbus units, utilised across a 34-destination network.
