The Sharjah Private Education Authority (SPEA) as part of the ‘Your Children Are Safe’ initiative has installed cameras and safety devices in over 2,000 busses transporting students to school in the emirate.
The cameras allow parents to monitor their children while commuting to and from school.
As part of the initiative, 3,250 bus drivers and supervisors were also safety trained.
The initiative was launched under the directive of Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, a member of the supreme council and Ruler of Sharjah.
“Currently work is underway to register all school buses in private schools in the emirate of Sharjah in the tracking system,” said Tariq Al Hammadi, Acting Director of the Government Communication Department, SPEA.
Phase one of the initiative involved installing GPS trackers on buses to allow control and monitoring, which took place prior to the pandemic. Installation of the cameras has now taken place as part of phase two.
Bus supervisors have been provided with 2000 tablets to record student data and parents/guardians will be able to see their children when they board the bus to school and to go home.
A circular was also sent out to all private schools in Sharjah to install security cameras and safety devices, according to the standard of the emirate.
