Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has begun trial operations of smart inspection vehicles for rail right-of-way areas, the Emirates News Agency (WAM) said in a statement.
The vehicles use intelligence systems and cameras to monitor the Dubai Metro and Tram networks.
The initiative aims to improve daily inspections by detecting violations, restricted activities, and damage in these zones.
RTA smart inspection vehicles for rail networks
“This technology will not only improve the efficiency of our inspections but also help us to quickly identify and address any issues, ensuring the safety and reliability of our rail services. The smart inspection vehicle uses artificial intelligence to keep up with rail network advancements,” Abdulrahman Al Janahi, Director of Rail Right of Way at RTA’s Rail Agency said.
The project, launched in coordination with the Smart Services Department, seeks to achieve full coverage of inspection areas and increase the speed of report preparation. It also aims to reduce human errors and support decision-making.
“This project underscores RTA’s commitment to leveraging smart solutions to enhance operational efficiency and infrastructure safety. The use of smart inspection vehicles is expected to significantly improve the effectiveness of rail inspections, ensuring comprehensive coverage and timely reporting of any anomalies,” Al Janahi added.
