Major Dubai bridge to close 6 days a week

The RTA has advised motorists to use alternative routes when crossing the Creek as the major bridge is due to close for six days a week until May 13.

Announcing the closure, effective immediately, the RTA said Al Maktoum Bridge would close from 12am to 5am on Mondays to Saturdays for the next two weeks.

During the closures the RTA suggests motorists cross at:

• Al Garhoud Bridge
• Business Bay Bridge
• Al Shindagha Tunnel
• The Infinity Bridge

A message posted on the RTA Twitter account said: “#Reminder: Please use alternative routes to reach your destinations easily, coinciding with the closure of Al Maktoum Bridge from Mondays to Saturdays, 6 days per week, until Saturday, May 13, 2023 from 12am to 5am.”

Maktoum Bridge is one of six road crossings across the Creek and the first to be built in the city. When it first opened in 1963 it was a convenient way to cross the Creek without needing an abra.
