RINA, billed as a global leader in inspection, certification, and engineering consultancy, has been selected by Hassan Allam Construction and its subsidiary Kortech, the main Project Manager of systems for the Hafeet Rail project, to provide system integration and system engineering services.
Leveraging its expertise, RINA said it will ensure the smooth integration of all technological and operational components, including advanced signalling systems, telecommunications, and safety measures.
“RINA is proud to bring its global expertise to ensure that this new state-of-the-art rail network operates efficiently and safely, supporting the region’s economic growth,” said Andrea Raffetti, Middle East, India & Turkey Infrastructure and Mobility Director at RINA.
“We are honoured to contribute to this landmark project that strengthens connectivity between the UAE and Oman,” he added.
RINA’s involvement in Hafeet Rail follows its successful contribution to Etihad Rail’s first stage, reinforcing its position as a leader in the Middle East’s infrastructure development.
The Hafeet Rail project, a key component of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) railway network, is set to revolutionise transportation between the UAE and Oman.
The 303-kilometer railway will connect Abu Dhabi and Sohar, reducing travel time to just 100 minutes, besides boosting freight capacity across the region.
Freight trains will be able to carry up to 15,000 tonnes of cargo in a single journey, making it a cornerstone for trade and logistics in the Middle East.
The Hafeet Rail project, part of the broader GCC rail plan, is also expected to stimulate job creation, boost tourism, and enhance regional trade.
