The UAE-based Indian businessman Murari Lal Jalan partnered Jalan-Kalrock Consortium (JKC) announced on Monday obtaining renewal for the Airport Operator Certificate (AOC) of Jet Airways from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), India’s civil aviation regulator, moving a step further for the re-launch of the airline.
“JKC expresses its heartfelt gratitude to the aviation regulator, the Ministry of Civil Aviation, and all other stakeholders, in showcasing their faith in the consortium and in the revival of Jet Airways,” the airline said in a statement.
JKC acquired the grounded Indian carrier Jet Airways in a bid process through India’s insolvency court National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) in 2021.
Delhi-based carrier, then the leading airline in India, stopped operating in April 2019, burdened under piling losses, debt and dues, after flying for 25 years.
AOC renewal boosts Jet Airways’ revival
The airline statement said the renewal of AOC revalidates the confidence of the Indian aviation regulator in the revival of the carrier.
It also said the consortium remains fully dedicated to the revival of the airline and is committed to implementing a comprehensive strategy to ensure the airline’s success.
“JKC will continue to work closely with all relevant authorities, industry partners and stakeholders in reviving Jet Airways in coming weeks,” the statement said.
