Emirates’ A6-EOE is the first aircraft to don the airline’s new livery. A video was shared by the Dubai Media Office on Twitter showing the same.
New Emirates livery
The tailfin and wingtips have undergone significant changes in the latest design. The UAE flag on the airline tailfin is now more dynamic and flowing, with 3D-effect artwork, and the wingtips have been painted red, with the Emirates logo in Arabic calligraphy “popping” out in reverse white.
“Aircraft livery is the most instantly recognisable brand real estate for any airline. It’s a visual representation of our unique identity, something we wear proudly, and display in all the cities we fly to around the world,” president Sir Tim Clark said in a statement last week.
Clark added that the airline is “refreshing our livery to keep it modern, without losing the key elements of our identity such as the UAE flag on our tailfin and the Arabic calligraphy.”
Passengers seated by the windows will see the UAE flag colors painted on the wingtips facing the fuselage.
The gold ‘Emirates’ lettering on the main body of the aircraft in English and Arabic is also bolder and 32.5 percent larger.
Meanwhile, the iconic red branding that Emirates introduced in 2005 has been retained on the aircraft belly. The design no longer includes the website URL ‘Emirates.com.’
This is the third iteration of the airline’s official aircraft brand colors, with the original livery dating back to 1985, and its first refresh in 1999.
The newest livery will be gradually applied to the rest of Emirates’ existing fleet, with 24 aircraft expected to sport the refreshed livery by the end of 2023, including 17 Boeing 777s.
All new aircraft, starting from the first Airbus A350 that enters the fleet in August 2024, will be delivered in this new livery.
Emirates’ original livery in 1985 was created by UK design company Negus & Negus, while all subsequent aircraft colors were created by its in-house design team.
Over the years, Emirates has introduced various colorful and eye-catching aircraft livery, including bespoke designs for sponsorships and special occasions such as the UAE’s 50th Jubilee livery and Expo 2020 Dubai.
The first aircraft to sport the new livery is A6-EOE, an Airbus A380, which will operate its first flight to Munich as EK51 on March 17, 2023, after its makeover.
