Emirates, the world’s largest international airline, has announced plans to introduce a fourth daily flight to Johannesburg, South Africa, starting March 1, 2025.

This addition follows the recent launch of a second daily A380 service between Dubai and Johannesburg on 1 September.

The new service, operated on a three-class Boeing 777-300ER, will increase Emirates’ capacity by 708 seats daily.

Emirates strengthens travel ties

Flight EK767 will depart Dubai at 00:10, arriving in Johannesburg at 06:20. The return flight, EK768, will leave Johannesburg at 10:15, landing in Dubai at 20:15.

Adnan Kazim, Emirates Deputy President and Chief Commercial Officer said: “South Africa has long been a highly popular destination for both leisure and business travellers connecting to and through Dubai, and the fourth daily flight enables us to better serve the growing demand for travel to and from the market. We’d like to extend our thanks to the South African authorities for their partnership and support in securing this new service, which reinstates the capacity we offered South Africa pre-pandemic, with 49 weekly flights, across three gateways.

“As we reflect on nearly three decades of operations to the market, we remain committed to driving inbound travel to South Africa, supporting the government as they aim make tourism the leading economic contributor and vehicle for transformation, as well as encouraging more inwards investment to the country.”

The additional flight will enhance connectivity to over 140 destinations in Emirates’ global network, including Dubai, Thailand, India, and European cities such as the UK, France, the Netherlands, and Germany.

Emirates’ partnerships with South African Airways, Airlink, Cemair, and FlySafair will provide access to 60 regional points in Africa.

The airline’s codeshare with South African Airways, established in 1997, allows single-ticket travel to 12 destinations via Johannesburg.

The new service will also increase cargo capacity, offering 300 tonnes weekly via the Boeing 777’s belly hold.

Emirates SkyCargo transports goods including fresh produce, chilled meat, dairy, seafood, and flowers.

The airline began operations to South Africa in June 1995 and has since served over 20 million passengers. The airline introduced its A380 service to Johannesburg in October 2011 and now offers two daily flights on the aircraft.

On the ground, Emirates provides lounges in Johannesburg and Cape Town for premium passengers and select Skywards members. The airline also offers a Chauffeur Drive Service at all three South African gateways.
