DP World, the world’s third biggest port operator, on Monday said its consolidated container volume rose 9.1 percent in the first quarter, because of the addition of new capacity and a pick-up in global trade.
The company handled 6.76 million twenty-foot equivalent units in the quarter, compared with 6.19 million TEU in the corresponding period of 2013.
Gross volumes, which include all terminals in which DP World is involved, not just ones controlled by the company, handled 14.3 million TEU, up 10.5 percent year-on-year.
