Dubai Police have urged passengers at Dubai Airports to use the Metro due to traffic congestion on city roads.
In an alert posted on social media, police said road users should seek alternative routes in order to give priority to passengers arriving at and departing from the international airport.
Meanwhile, the Roads and Transport Authority, has advised of delays on roads across the emirate due to Dubai rain and stormy UAE weather.
Dubai traffic warnings
The police alert said it: “Urges passengers departing and arriving at Dubai Airports to use the metro due to traffic congestion on the roads”.
A further update said it urged: “Road users heading to Airport Road to use alternative routes in order to avoid traffic congestion, emphasising the importance of prioritising the use of these roads for departing and arriving travellers.”
The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) has issued a yellow alert for much of the UAE, with predictions of rain and reduced visibility until 8.30PM on Thursday.
An even more severe orange alert has been issued for the eastern regions, with the public being warned about the likelihood of hazardous weather events.
A road traffic update shared by the RTA on social media said: “Expected delay on Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road at the entrance of the Emirate of Sharjah due to rainwater accumulation.
“You can use Al Khail Road, Emirates Road, and Sheikh Zayed Bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street. as alternative routes to ensure easy reach to your destinations.
“RTA’s emergency team is dealing with the rain effects to restore smooth traffic flow”.
The Arabian Gulf is also expected to be rough on Thursday and Friday, but conditions are anticipated to improve by Saturday and continue through Sunday.
