Dubai welcomed more than 1.4 million passengers throughout the last two weeks of August, according to an official in the General Directorate of Residency and Foreign Affairs (GDRFA).
In a statement provided by Dubai Police, Major General Mohammad Ahmad Al Merri, director general of GDRFA Dubai, revealed that his department was handling 85,000 people per day through Dubai airports.
It said around 260,135 travellers (18%) used 75 smart gates during the last two weeks of August.
Al Merri said: “More people are using the smart gates recently in the busiest airport in the world. Many travellers used the airports on July and August during the summer holiday. The figures showing how Dubai is an attraction destination for everyone.”
In addition to the amount of visitors, an estimated 3,645 passports were renewed in the Airport Service centre at Terminal 3 between June 1 until the end of August.
