IndiGo launches two new flights to Abu Dhabi

The Indian carrier now operates flights to four Indian cities from Abu Dhabi

Indian airline IndiGo has launched two new daily direct flights from New Delhi and Mumbai to Abu Dhabi, the airline announced on Thursday.

The inaugural flight from Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport to Abu Dhabi took place on June 5 at 19:55 local time, while the flight to Abu Dhabi from Mumbai took off at 23:30 local time.

“The enhanced connectivity reflects the strong connection between the UAE and India in a variety of areas including commerce and tourism,” Abu Dhabi Airports CEO Bryan Thompson said.

IndiGo now serves four Indian destinations from Abu Dhabi: Cochin, Calicut, New Delhi and Mumbai.

“With the two new routes we look forward to continuing to facilitate the travel of Indian expats between their homeland and the UAE and attracting tourist traffic between the multiple destinations,” Thompson added.

William Boulter, IndiGo’s chief commercial officer, said that Abu Dhabi and the UAE “are a critical market for strengthening our presence in the Middle East.”

“We see great potential in expanding our connections to the UAE, further bolstering the extensive cultural, business and tourism links between India and the Middle East,” he said.

IndiGo operates over 1,300 flights daily and operates to 54 domestic and 17 international destinations.
