An IndiGo flight between New Delhi and Istanbul was forced to divert to Kuwait on Friday after developing an engine problem, according to media reports.
Citing a source, the Times of India has reported that the diversion took place after pilots were alerted of low oil pressure in one of the Airbus A320 Neo aircraft’s Pratt&Whitney engines.
In a statement, an IndiGo spokesperson noted that “the root cause is yet to be determined.”
“The aircraft landed safety in Kuwait,” the spokesperson added, noting that passengers in Istanbul travelling back to New Delhi were to be accommodated on Turkish Airlines.
The Times of India report said IndiGo began using the A320/A321 family of aircraft for Istanbul flights on March 20.
Since then, at least one other IndiGo flight has reported an engine issue and had to have its engine replaced after experiencing vibrations.
