Salalah Airport has re-opened following a closure of its runway yesterday, Oman Airports said.

The closure followed an aircraft bursting its tyre during landing at Salalah Airport on Sunday afternoon, which resulted in the disruption of six flights.

“Following an earlier incident that occurred on the afternoon of March 10 at Salalah Airport, where a tyre burst occurred on one of the aircraft on landing, the airport will remain closed until midnight on March 10,” said the Oman Airports statement.

The authority said it worked with partners to remove the damaged aircraft from the runway and ensure a safe and speedy return to normal operations.

It apologised to passengers for the inconvenience but said there has been “limited disruption” during the incident.
