Low cost Indian operator Indigo Airlines will start flights to its third destination in the UAE tomorrow, the carrier’s chief operating office Will Boulter told Arabian Business.

Flights from Calicut and Kochin will operate daily to the UAE’s capital and are being launched to facilitate the ease of travel for the Indian market.

“We plan to add additional frequencies in the future as well,” Boulter said.

“We expect there will be expansion at Dubai as well in the future, but under the current flight rights we have, operating out of the three main airports is how we’ve chose to progress for the time being,” said Boulter.

Indigo has been announcing a spate of new routes lately, including to London, Hong Long and the Maldives.

International flights currently account for 15% of Indigo’s overall operations, and could account for as much as 18 percent.

“While initially we’re focusing on point to point traffic, at some point we’ll look to incorporate connecting travellers across our intenational network via India,” added Boulter.
