Innovation to take centre stage at international road transport union world congress in Oman

Oman is gearing up to host transport, trade and logistics experts from across the world at the International Road Transport Union (IRU) World Congress – titled ‘Innovation on the Move’.

From the 6th to the 8th of November, government ministers, business executives and logistics experts will descend on the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre to network, discuss and explore innovative solutions on road transport and trade.

Held under the patronage of His Highness Sayyid Asaad bin Tariq Al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for International Relations and Cooperation Affairs and Personal Representative of His Majesty the Sultan of Oman, the congress is organized by the IRU and co-hosted by ASYAD and Oman’s Ministry of Transport and Communications.

André Borschberg, co-founder, CEO and Pilot of Solar Impulse, Dr. Rand Hindi, Entrepreneur and Founder of Snips.ai and Jim Carroll, Futurist and innovation expert, Abdul Malik Al Balushi, CEO, Oman Post and Ahmed Al Bulushi CEO, Mwasalat are speaking at the event, and will be joined by over 60 industry speakers.

The growing global delegate list is equally impressive and expected to reach over 1,000 attendees from 100 countries.  Prominent companies including Volvo, AXA, PWC, Mercedes Benz, MAN and IBM have already signed up and will be joined by transport associations from 30+ countries including Belgium, Switzerland, UK, Germany, Netherlands, Sweden, Russia, Ukraine, UAE, Saudi Arabia and Japan.

In addition to keynote speakers, plenary sessions will focus on Innovation, Governance and Business processes. To complement the session, a three-day exhibition will offer key players in the industry an opportunity to showcase their latest innovations in road transport. It will also feature an innovation alley; a dedicated space for innovation within the event, including the startup competition which will be sponsored and hosted by Road Ventures SA.
