Saudi Arabian Airlines (Saudia) has introduced a new “social messaging” plan that provides guests with free access to iMessage, Facebook Messenger and Whatsapp, the airline has announced.

Saudia is the first airline in Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia to introduce a complimentary social media messaging plan on-board flights.

The Whatsapp plan was initially rolled out on May 5 on domestic flights, which was expanded to include international flights on May 31.

Since then, over half a million guests have logged on to the Whatsapp plan. The new plan now includes the additions of iMessage and Facebook Messenger.

To access the social messaging plans, passengers on board WiFi-enabled Saudia flights can connect their device to the “SAUDIA_ONAIR” network, select a plan and provide an e-mail address to activate.

Once a plan is selected, it will be available for the duration of the flight.
