Motorists in Abu Dhabi can avail a 25 percent discount on parking fines if they pay the amount within a month of fines being issued, according to the Abu Dhabi Department of Transport.
Drivers in the capital can use the discount starting from the first day of Eid Al Fitr.
The markdown was earlier introduced for drivers who paid their fines within 15 days of their issuance, but the period was later extended.
The move is one of many being taken by Abu Dhabi to ease payments on its transient expat community, which makes up over 80 percent of the UAE’s population. In a greater change, the Abu Dhabi Executive Committee today approved a proposal to reduce tourism fees from 6 to 3.5 percent, and municipality fees to 2 percent.
The capital also revealed a new $13.6bn (AED50bn) plan to stimulate its economy in sectors ranging from infrastructure to tourism and SMEs. It is set to have a far-reaching and positive effect on the emirate’s economy, according to a range of economic experts.
