Parking in Dubai will be free from Thursday June 14, until 3 Shawwal, which could be on either Sunday or Monday, Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority has announced.
The parking tariff will be re-activated as of 4 Shawwal (Monday June 18) at 2.39pm.
The RTA’s statement follows yesterday’s announcement that the Eid Al Fitr holiday will begin on Thursday for public sector workers. Private sector workers are yet to find out if they will get a long weekend.
Holiday timetables for the Metro, bus, boats and tram have also been released. They are as follows:
Dubai Metro
Red Line stations will operate from 5am on Thursday (June 14), Saturday, Sunday and Monday until 2am the next day. It will run from 10am on Friday until 2am on Saturday.
Stations on the Green Line will run from 5.30am until 2am on Thursday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday. They will run between 10am and 2am on Friday.
Dubai Tram
From Saturday to Thursday trams will run from 6am until 1am the following day. On Friday they will operate from 9am to 1am the following day.
Boats
The Water Bus will ferry between marina stations from noon until midnight. For the first three days of Eid the Dubai Ferry will call at Ghubaiba and Dubai Marina stations at 11am, 1pm, 3pm, 5pm and 6.30pm. It will run from Al Jaddaf Station to Dubai Water Canal Station at 12pm and 5.30pm and from Dubai Water Canal Station to Al Jaddaf at 2.05pm and 7.35pm.
Round trips will run from Sheikh Zayed Road Station from 4pm to midnight.
The Water Taxi will operate as usual during the first three Eid days from 9am to 10pm.
Dubai Bus
The main stations will open from 5.14am until 12.59am. Al Ghubaiba Station will open from 4.46am until 12.33am.
Smaller stations will operate from 5am to 11.59pm, while Route C01 will operate around the clock.
Al Qusais station opens from 5am until midnight. Al Quoz Industrial Station operates from 6am until 11pm. Jebel Ali Station will run from 5am until 11.30pm.
