Abu Dhabi announces completion of Yameela Ferry renovation

Capacity is increased on ferry service that links Mugharraq Port in Jebel Al Dhanna and Delma Island

The Department of Transport (DoT) in Abu Dhabi has announced the completion of renovation project of Yameela Ferry.

The renovation was designed to increase the ferry’s capacity and update the electronic and technical navigation systems in a renovation project that lasted for two and a half months.

Yameela Ferry links Mugharraq Port in Jebel Al Dhanna and Delma Island. The capacity of the ferry has been increased to 200 seats in the air-conditioned seating area and another 200 seats were added in the open.

The renovation of Yameela Ferry included the rebuilding of two engines and developing a new monitoring system that enhances the efficiency of the ferry including emergencies monitoring system along with redesigning the seating area to include a ladies only section.

DoT inaugurated Yameela Ferry back in 2010. Since then until the end of 2017, 13,526 trips were conducted and 716,212 passengers used it.
