Twitter will soon revise its user verification process, according to Elon Musk, who now owns the social media platform.
“Whole verification process is being revamped right now”, Musk said in a tweet, without disclosing more details. The owner has also given his employees a deadline to introduce these changes on Twitter or else they will be fired.
The social networking platform is considering charging an amount for the ‘blue ticks’ on the social media platform, which verifies the identity of its account holder, technology newsletter Platformer reported on Sunday, citing two people familiar with the matter.
According to the report, users will have to subscribe to Twitter Blue at $4.99 a month or lose their “verified” badges if the project moves forward.
The subscription price can also go up to $19.99 per month.
Twitter Blue was launched in June 2021 as the platform’s first subscription service. This feature offers “exclusive access to premium features” on a monthly subscription basis including an option to edit tweets.
