Twitter has said that organisations in Saudi Arabia will be charged around $65 more than those in the United States if they want their accounts to be verified with a blue check mark.

The move by the microblogging platform comes as the company’s CEO, Elon Musk, set a deadline of April 1 for verified users to buy a premium Twitter subscription or lose their verification.

In Saudi Arabia, the higher fee for Twitter verification for organisations vary from country to country due to local market conditions.

The cost to have an organisation’s Twitter account verified in the Kingdom will be $1,065.68, compared to $1,000 in the US.

Twitter’s blue tick is essential for companies and organisations as it adds credibility to their accounts and helps to build trust with their followers.

The microblogging platform has also stated that organisations in the UAE will be charged almost the same as those in the US, with verification costing AED3,700, or $1,007. However, the fee is similar for organisations in Kuwait, Egypt, and Morocco.

The costs of these subscriptions range from $8 a month for individual users to a starting price of $1,000 monthly to verify an organisation, plus $50 monthly for each affiliate or employee account.

Twitter has also announced that they will no longer verify individual accounts to ensure they are who they say they are, a change from the previous blue check rolled out to public figures and others before Musk took over the company.
