Microsoft and LG Electronics have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on mobile technology.
The agreement was signed by Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer and LG Electronics CEO Yong Nam in South Korea
“With this partnership, mobile computing will truly become an everyday reality, and LG and Microsoft will be at the forefront of it,” said Yong Nam said at the announcement.
The MoU will see a continued strategic collaboration by both companies in research and development, marketing, applications and services for mobile convergence.
Microsoft is working hard to make its Windows Mobile operating system challenge its competitors, especially after the recent buzz surrounding Google’s Android OS being used in the latest smartphones and the continued development of Symbian – the open source OS that’s backed by leading phone manufacturer Nokia.
“This MoU further strengthens Microsoft’s relationship with LG and demonstrates our joint commitment to delivering the most innovative mobile experiences to our customers,” said Steve Ballmer in a statement.
“We are excited that leading mobility solutions providers, such as LG, are aligning with our vision for mobility.”
