Apple has announced price and tax changes for apps and in-app purchases for multiple European and Asian countries, starting October 5. The changes will affect purchases from the app-store and in-app purchases but will exclude auto-renewable subscriptions.

The price raise will come into effect in Chile, Egypt, Japan, Malaysia, Pakistan, Poland, South Korea, Sweden, Vietnam, and all territories that use the euro currency, the official announcement stated.

The California-based tech firm detailed that the price increase in Vietnam is due to new local tax regulations, Apple will have to collect and remit applicable taxes, being value-added tax (VAT) and corporate income tax (CIT) at 5 percent rates respectively.

As per the update sent by Apple to developers, it explained that the Pricing and Availability section of My Apps will be updated. Developers can then change the price of their apps and in-app purchases (including auto-renewable subscriptions) at any time. Developers can choose to preserve current price subscriptions for existing subscribers.

For those in the Eurozone, apps and in-app purchases priced at EUR 0.99 will now increase to EUR 1.19. An item that costs EUR 9.99 will have its price increased to EUR 11.99. The maximum tier is set to increase from EUR 999 to EUR 1199, according to the company.

This announcement comes after Apple recently launched new products including the iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Pro, AirPods and Apple watch.
