Air to water technology launches commercial ops in the UAE

Technology arrives in the UAE through partnership between Eshara Capital and Veragon Water Solutions

A pioneering technology that provides a cost-effective and sustainable source of mineralised drinking water by harnessing the humidity from the air has been officially launched commercially in the Middle East.

Veragon Water Solutions air-to-water system provides potable water in hot or tropical environments and has been used by its customers, including the Italian Armed Forces, UN WFP and NATO, in some of harshest climates in the world.

The technology has now arrived in the UAE through Veragon Water Solutions Middle East Ltd, a partnership between Eshara Capital and Veragon Water Solutions.

UK-based Veragon Water Solutions Ltd was founded by Dr Alessio Lucattelli, an Italian medical doctor who began researching the idea of Air-to-Water technologies after taking part in relief work in Haiti.

After successful trials, the process of water capture was developed and expanded on a commercial scale. The result is Veragon’s system, which has the capacity to produce up to 1,000 litres per day and can produce safe drinking water at the point-of-use for as little as AED0.03 per litre.

Veragon said it is in the process of launching four pilot projects in the UAE with large organisations who are actively seeking a way to find a sustainable source of drinking water at the point-of-need with no logistal trial to help reduce costs and their own carbon footprint.

David Painter, Veragon’s chairman said: “The global water crisis and namely having access to safe, drinkable and regular supplies of water is one of the most pressing concerns facing governments and organisations across the globe.

“In a world where this precious resource is under increasing pressure to cater for the ever-expanding global population, mankind must find new ways to source what we need to survive and in turn help protect our environment.”
