The UAE based global satellite operator is working with aerospace and defense technology firm Orbital ATK to launch the rocket on an Airane rocket from Kourou in French Guiana.

The Ka-band satellite will expand Yahsat’s coverage to 19 markets in Africa and marks its entry into Brazil.

“Al Yah 3 will allow us to extend our affordable broadband services to 60% of the African population and more than 95% in Brazil,” said Marcus Vilaca, Chief Technology Officer at Yahsat.

“We’re looking forward to furthering our ambitions via future missions to support more growth for YahClick, and for our other business lines such as commercial in-flight connectivity,” he added.
