Emirates could become one of the first companies to sponsor the uniforms of NBA teams.
The Dubai airline have reportedly held talks over displaying its logos on jerseys worn by players in the US basketball league.
NBA teams were previously forbidden from promoting logos on uniforms during games. But a three-year pilot program, beginning in the 2017-18 season, will allow small patches to be displayed. It is expected to generate $150 million (AED550 million) per year in total revenue, reported Bloomberg.
It will allow teams to sell a 6.35cm square patch on the left shoulder of the jerseys. So far, only the Philadelphia 76ers are the only NBA team to have secured a jersey sponsor after announcing online ticket marketplace StubHub would pay $5 million a year for the uniform real estate.

The airline sponsors football giants Arsenal, Real Madrid, AC Milan and Paris Saint-Germain, tennis’s US Open and French Open, F1 and many golf tournaments.
Emirates declined to comment when contacted by Arabian Business.
