People in Saudi Arabia spent around SR12.7bn ($3.4bn) in a single week, according to data published by Saudi Central Bank (SAMA).
The spending, made by citizens and residents, came in more than 150m transactions between March 26 and April 1.
SAMA releases a weekly total of spending, with a breakdown by sector and the figures show a 15 per cent increase on the previous week.

The biggest sectors were food and beverage (SR2.1bn), Clothing and footwear (SR1.4bn) and restaurants and cafés (SR1.2bn).
Spending on jewellery (SR252m) and electronic devices (SR256m) was more modest.
